Brief
Data center operators respond to alerts from several systems on a regular basis. Those alerts are communicated to them in several ways: text messaging, email, light and horn. However, all of those delivery methods have one thing in common. The response requires the user to go to a computer, login to the application, and enter a response to the alert. The SynapSense system was no different.
However, research with existing customers and several prospects has clearly shown that a means to respond to alerts without returning to a computer is valuable to data center operators. Alert response is the most common request when asked how they think mobile devices play a role in the data center. Some customers thought this single use case could save them several hours per week.
Brainstorming Session
We needed to create a product that adds value to the system in ways that our competitors don’t. In addition, the product should be marketable by solving a problem using an exciting new technology or delivery method.. Detail documentation ⟶
Target - User Personas
As we refined the use case for the new initiative we also identified the specific target user which included data center IT personnel, facility managers, and operators. Detail documentation ⟶
Process Flow
Because this mobile application is designed for a single use, there is a single most common use case covered by the shown process flow chart. Detail documentation ⟶
Architecture & Design
The improved user experience reduces user's cognitive and kinematic loads, enabling them to take timely action with minimal interaction. The minimalist design and navigation architecture provides users with a simple way to access critical, time-sensitive data. Detail documentation ⟶
